Neighbourhood FLAVOR STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -
RICHMOND VALLEY - Not only does the Bake Shoppe care for fresh cookies and cupcakes, the Richmond Valley bakery teaches how you could, too.
Nancy Narciso of Tottenville opened her South Shore bakery more than three and a half years ago at 33 Send for Ave. Since then, she has catered to the community by providing an assortment of treats for special events.
"We're a expressly bakery," said the owner, who runs the business with her sister. "Everything is custom ordered."
That means cookie favors, cupcake towers and more for weddings, scented 16s, baby showers, house parties and other events.
"Everything is made fresh everyday, and we don't sell anything a day old," said Ms. Narciso. The bakers are skilled at crafting sweets that look like handbags, cakes, soir hats, gift boxes, baby carriages and ruby slippers. Favors are also made on-placement.
