REDDING, Calif. -- 25-year-old Michelle Sudeta appeared to wipe away tears in a Shasta county courtroom Monday afternoon when she pleaded not sheepish to three counts of felony child abuse. Now, a family acquaintance says this blow was avoidable.
Police say Sudeta was drunk when she pushed a stroller carrying her three-year-old son into transportation last Thursday.
Her other two children were with her at the time, but they were not hurt.
Christina Brown has known the Sudeta one's nearest for more than two years.
She works as their Grandfather's caregiver and grew close to the kids, giving them gifts at Christmas and making them Easter baskets when the kinfolk couldn't afford to do it themselves.
Brown told KRCR that Sudeta neglected her kids, even while receiving about $600 a month in advantage. She says she would even trade food stamps for drugs.
