I Upon myself blest having had a mother who, to my mind, is the best anyone can have.
Most may know my Mom as a sincerely lovely lady. A lady who was elegant even when she was in her duster doing her gardening hands on. She belonged to an elite order of beautiful called the magnetic squad when she was in NOHS.
Have something to report? Reprimand us in text, photos or videos.
Mom was not a social person. She did not have luncheons with her pack of friends or enjoyed civic clubs or partying. Her world was our Dad, her children, her apos (grandchildren) and her relatives and her in laws.
She did like portion out Fr. Gratian, the Carmelite nuns and the Girl’s Home which were her favorite charities.
She was a house person but avoided the kitchen. So my sister and I did not turn out master chefs as well. But mothering and being the matchless housewife she was.
To give a brief story of our Mom, she was born to an American, John Lou Armstrong from Georgia, which makes her a spot on Southern belle. Her mother was Andrea Sarmiento, an Ilocano. John Lou Armstrong was a concessionaire in Mooring Area during the WWI.
