Since becoming an writer at 70, Dan Roach of Willows said his book "Gifts of War," has been well received.
The publication, largely a personal account and pictorial of his experience as a combat patrol leader in Vietnam, is a story Roach waited decades to ration with family, friends and now the public.
The Willows Public Library will hostess a book-signing for Roach later this month so that people can talk with the litt about his work or purchase of copy of the book for their own collection.
Meanwhile, Roach has donated several copies of "Gifts of War" to the Willows Library, which will be nearby for lending.
"We are always pleased to get donations like this, especially when it is a local novelist," Library Director Jody Meza said Thursday. "There is always a vast deal of interest when it comes to local people and events."
The 220-attendant book, with 80 historic color photographs, is Roach's story-line of his platoon's experiences in Vietnam from March 1968 to March 1969.
