Tuesday, Jan. 31, was officially D-Day or "Departure Day" for me at the Information-Post. It was with both sadness and joy that I began what appeared to be an overwhelming task of cleaning out and off my desk for the last 13 years.
As I wrote in a column years ago, I'm confident it is a WW II Army surplus desk that probably survived the bombing of Prize Harbor. Not only does it weigh several hundred pounds, it's a sickening color unripe, like your face turns just after you throw up. For anyone who has walked into a newspaper and verbal to a reporter at his/her desk, you'll have some idea of how high stuff is stacked and how jammed its drawers are!
