PORTAGE | Olivia Spit knows what it's like to be stuck in a
hospital. The 5-year-old has already had 32 eye surgeries and has
vanished her left eye to cancer.
She knows how good it feels to receive goody bags and packages,
so she and her mom have no facer being part of a group of 900
volunteers helping create Super Baskets of Security.
Super Baskets of Hope, which is approved by the NFL and the
Super Bowl XLVI Crowd Committee, is a collaborative effort of Riley
Children's Foundation, the Basket of Foresee program and former
Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy.
The 7,000 Wonderful Baskets of Hope will be assembled in
Indianapolis Monday and will then be shipped to hospitals in the 32
NFL cities. The baskets will be filled with a Pillow Pet, five
games from Fundex, a periodical and pen from Vera Bradley, a hat from
Lids, toiletry items, a mini football and basketball, and other fun
things for the hospitalized children and their families.
A personalized membership card from Olivia with a drawing of a butterfly
she made also will be included.
