KALAMAZOO — Patti Sholler-Barber grew up with a Hungarian indulge who loved to decorate and a father who was a woodworker, so it’s no surprise her century-old housing keeper’s Foursquare house is fully decked out for Christmas, including wreaths in all 30 windows.

A basket full of red balls, half a dozen immature candles, a small green tree and a number of little Santas enliven up the space in the sitting room part of the kitchen-family room.

“This is my favorite circumstances to sit,” Sholler-Barber said. She relaxes near the cozy stirring fireplace as she watches television, reads and looks at her special pop-up books.          

Five trees are in the living cubicle quarters this year, but only two are lighted. She’s gradually replacing her lights with unwasteful LEDs.

One tree in the living room is made of pine cones, and one is dressed in gold snowflakes. Still another is covered with butterflies and balls. A mountainous wreath with artificial fruit, a Father Christmas character and a trundle of silver balls are also prominent in the living room.
