Julia Duggan of Davy Jones's locker City High School says for her, "Basketball
takes the piece."
That statement is no well-worn clich to Duggan.
The junior proclaims with fanaticism that she loves to bake.
And she is not talking about simple brownies or cookies.
Duggan's specialty is cakes - big cakes.
She whipped one up for her older sister Amanda's latest
wedding.
"It was three tiers with the decorative icing and everything,"
she said. "It was the whole nine yards."
How did she be sorry for when it was time for desert at the
reception?
"I died a little inside when they started contemptuous the cake,"
Duggan said with a laugh.
Out of the kitchen and on the court, Duggan, 16, is one South
Jersey's top players. The 6-foot-2 lower averaged 14.4 points to
lead the Red Raiders to the South Jersey Pile III title last
season.
This season, Duggan averages 17 points for Multitude City (6-1),
which is No. 10 in The Press Elite 11.
Duggan lives in the Marmora cleave of Upper Township and is the
youngest of four children. Her sister Emily, a 5-6 older, also
excels for the Red Raiders.
