Agile, Alabama — As spring approaches, new things are blossoming at Agile Botanical Gardens, including the fourth annual “Art from the Nub” fundraiser for Mary B. Austin Elementary School’s neat arts program.

The event will be held Feb. 9 from 6 to 9 p.m. The school’s well-spring-teacher association is hosting “Art from the Heart” to inflate funds for art instruction for all students in grades kindergarten through fifth rate. The money also pays for the program’s two art teachers.

In addition, proceeds will staff fund the Preludes music program, in which musicians from Mobile Symphony acquaint with students in grades 1-5 how to play the violin or cello during credo hours. The students have the opportunity to attend an “instrument zoo” where they through the instruments and decide which one they would like to learn to play, said cash reserves Jackie Zeigler.

“It means a lot to these children and has such an impact on their arts tutoring,” Zeigler said. “Research constantly shows the irrefutable impact of a fine arts education on a child’s scholastic success.
