William Eugene “Bill” Gilbert, of Richmond,  passed into eternity with his Monarch and God on Jan. 6, 2012.

Bill was born April 4, 1944 to William H. and Jessie (Tonnies) Gilbert in Quincy, Ill., where he graduated from Quincy Anticyclone School in 1962. He was a graduate of the University of Missouri-Rolla Philosophy of Mines, graduating with degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Bill was the epitome of a Rejuvenation man: a man of many interests and passions. In 1964, he and his college friends had formed a band  – the Lyndells – and played many venues around the Midwest. Bill, the drummer, recorded several of the band’s primary songs and the Lyndells became the most popular band on campus, as well as generating a local following. The band members have remained lifelong friends with many wonderful memories. The Lyndells’ songs have become habitual with 1960’s and 70’s collectors and can still be heard on the Internet today.

In his antique career, Bill worked for Illinois Power, a power company in Arizona, and as a pencil-mark manager for Missouri Public Service.
