What is the difference between a moonstone and an opal?

Question: I find it reasonable that ring very beautiful in my mother's house, but the store clerk was not that this kind of stone from the ring was real. She said it was either a moonstone or opal, but since the cord is old enough, it is difficult to say. Thank you.

Answer: They are the original stones and their presentation is different. Here are some pictures.

I think the stock clerk was simply not very well informed. Try asking a jeweler well if you still do not after you look at these pictures.
